Ex BLEEDING CHILDREN and MAKE IT
STOP front man Atom L. Bomb with help from Guitarist Jim Cavoretto also of the band MAKE
IT STOP started a side project in the early part of the new century called
CHALLENGED. It was an outlet for the members of Bloodkeg Productions to use to
make fun, unadulterated, utterly silly music. CHALLENGED recognize no rules, no
fixed format, and reflect a big sense of humor. Listening to the CD "Heres your
money back (HYMB)" released by CHALLENGED April 30th 2004 is the only way to
fully appreciate the chaos. Or, induce involuntary vomiting.
Musical skills were improved and mutilated
alike. During that time music wizard Atom L. Bomb brought his friend Fred Woodworth into the
studio to join in on the simple pleasures of making an ass out of ones self. The
Bomb and Fred had become good friends while attending Vermont Technical College
in the late 90's. Now playing music was a great way to blow off some steam after
a long day at each respective band members day job. Fred in turn brought high
school friend Lucas Herring in on the fun. After HYMB was mastered in the studio
Jim took a break from CHALLENGED to pursue other adventures, as did a handful of
other monkeys who contributed to the project. After nearly a year jamming
together (Summer 2003 - Fall 2004), Atom L. Bomb, Lucas, and Freddy had become
accustomed to playing music as a trio. The trio began writing songs. Each member
was playing a different instrument than they started out with. Spaghetti monster help us.
GOING DEAF was born. Atom's heavily punk influenced drumming style set
the breakneck pace for Luke's relentless bass guitar assault and
Freddy's guitar buzz. Twisted lyrics bellowed from tortured vocal
chords shoveled layers of attitude upon already dark music. With musical
influences like The Misfits,
GWAR, Pantera, Jack Black, Primus, Johnny Cash, Megadeth,
Slayer, The Ramones, and Venom, this trio began making incredibly energetic, loud, and disturbing
"music."
After a good run with the band, and many Monday nights eating chinese
food and drinking beer, Luke departed from being the band's sole
bassist in order to dedicate more time to his education and his young
daughter. Luke gets the band's vote as all time best Dad, and is a
lifetime member of the BloodKeg. The Bomb and Fred kept jamming and
writing new material. Fred, now realizing he was born to blossom into a
totally obsessed guitar freak, and Atom, forming an alarmingly intimate
relationship with his drum kit, were having fun, and not sweating the
lack of a full time bass player. In November 2006 Fred, Atom, and other BloodKeg members had created
enough new songs to compile a new volume of sonic filth. Fred recorded
the basslines, and the BloodKeg studio was also graced with the
presence of Scott McGrath, who is featured playing bass on "Because
You're Gone." The CD "WHAT YOU SAY?" was unleashed for public consumption,
much to the dismay of many Easy Listening fanboys.
In 2009 Going Deaf released "Halloween with the BloodKeg." Many months of song writing and
"choking on candy," brought forth this collection of gaggling creeps and terrors. A collection
of songs about halloween and monsters that get you when you're vulnerable. This is a rock album that
will make your babies run.
It's effin beautiful.
In April 2011 Atom's long time friend and guitarist Jay, from Bleeding Children stepped
into the position as Going Deaf guitarist. Fred is now on bass full time as well as vocals
and Atom still mans the drums. We are writing new songs as well as working on old songs.
Thanks for Going Deaf. Don't forget your earplugs in the future.
Oh my, we're on facebook.
